Two Phase Flow Analysis Method

이상유동해석방법론

Graduate3 creditsElective major

A graduate course on what happens when water and steam flow together inside a small modular reactor, and on how to compute it. The first half lays the foundations of two-phase flow; in the second, teams take up a real problem arising in an SMR component and analyse it themselves.

How the course runs

01

First half

Foundations

  • Flow regimes and flow-regime maps
  • Conservation equations and the two-fluid model
  • Void-fraction models and two-phase pressure drop
  • Phase separation, flow instabilities, critical flow
  • Bubble nucleation and pool boiling
02

Second half

Team project (IC-PBL+)

  • Each team picks a two-phase-flow issue that actually arises in an SMR component or system
  • Frame it as an engineering problem and review the relevant literature and data
  • Select the governing equations and correlations that fit
  • Carry out quantitative analysis
  • Propose a suitable validation method

By the end of this course

  1. 01Apply two-phase-flow governing equations, flow-regime models, void-fraction models, and pressure-drop models to real SMR component conditions, and analyse the thermal-hydraulic behavior quantitatively.
  2. 02Formulate two-phase-flow issues in SMR design and operation as engineering problems, and set out the analysis strategy and procedure systematically: assumptions, governing equations, correlation selection, validation method.
  3. 03Investigate and analyse engineering problems using literature, data, and analysis tools, and arrive at evidence-based solutions.
  4. 04Synthesise results as a team, then present and document them convincingly.
